Woman mauled to death in Mambaling

A 55-YEAR-OLD WOMAN was mauled to death outside her house in barangay Alaska-Mambaling, Cebu City.

Deodiza Estrelloso was found with severe injuries in the head about two meters from her house past 10 p.m. last Monday.

A bamboo wood believed to have been used in the killing was recovered near the woman’s body.

The woman’s nephew, Rizalino Estrelloso, said they suspect that young boys believed to be drug addicts were the culprits.

The motive of the killing is still being investigated, said police.

SPO1 Victor Ayuman of the homicide section of the Cebu City police said the suspects have been identified. An operation to arrest the suspects is ongoing, said police.

A neighbor found a bloodied Estrelloso slumped on the ground. Paramedics were called but the woman was already dead when they arrived.

Rizalino said the woman suffered from a mental illness after she had a miscarriage and was left by her husband 20 years ago./CORRESPONDENT CARINE M. ASUTILLA
