2 collared for illegal firearms, ammunition in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY –– Two persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in two separate operations in Albay on Thursday morning.

Police Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Bicol police, said in a report that Kim Paulo Chua was arrested in his residence in Barangay Tuburan, Ligao City around 8:30 a.m.

Chua was identified as the leader of Chua-De la Fuente Criminal Gang, the report said.

Confiscated from the suspect were a loaded caliber .22 gun, an M16 rifle, a converted caliber .22 rifle, and a steel magazine for a carbine.

In Daraga town, Jay-Ar Manilag, 19, was also arrested at 5:40
p.m. in Barangay Kidaco.

Authorities confiscated a loaded caliber .38 pistol, a replica for caliber .38 pistol, a replica for caliber .45 pistol with an inserted magazine loaded with 10 live ammunition, and a sling bag.

The suspects will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
