Since 2017, Diana Sarah Ignacio-Tayo had been experiencing recurring abdominal pains.

“The endoscopy results showed that there was bile and acid reflux in my stomach. I was told that it could be treated by medication. But after six months of treatment, it got even worse,” Tayo told the Inquirer.

Last October, the pain became so unbearable that she had to be rushed to the hospital where doctors diagnosed her with diverticulitis (a disease causing pouches on intestine walls to become inflamed or infected), on top of hypertension stage 2 and diabetes.

Tayo is a 38-year-old single parent living in Virac, Catanduanes. Her only child, Alexandra Nicole, is a student in Las Piñas City who is being financially supported by her father.

Dr. Marlon Joson, a gastroenterology specialist at Daraga Doctors Hospital, has recommended that Tayo undergo a magnetic imaging resonance (MRI) test at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute.

“The test will cost P25,000. It will help the doctor determine whether I need to undergo surgery for diverticulitis,” Tayo said. In the meantime, she has been placed on medication to ease her stomach problems.

She can be reached at 0956-1633564. Donations can be deposited in her brother Errol Albino Ignacio’s BDO account (# 0060-3031-0231).
