Jeepney driver wins P10M jackpot

Betting on numbers he dreamt about nearly two decades ago, a man from Teresa, Rizal province, became the country’s 127th millionaire after winning the last draw of the 6-digit lottery of 2011 on Saturday.

The 45-year-old passenger jeepney driver told Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) officials how his dream turned into reality with his winning 3-5-0-2-4-0 combination.

PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said the winner, who has six children, took home the P10 million jackpot for the 6-digit draw, which he intends to use to buy a house and lot.

The remainder will be spent for his children’s education, the winner said.

Two other bettors who hit the jackpot in other draws last week went to the PCSO office on Monday to claim their prizes.

A 46-year-old vegetable farmer from Cabuyao, Laguna province, plans to buy the land he has been tilling with the P9.6 million he won during the 6/45 draw on December 28.

The man, who is married but is childless, placed a P60 bet on the numbers 11-16-18-21-29-30.

Meanwhile, a tricycle driver in Caloocan City who won the 6/42 draw on December 29 is still thinking of what to do with his money.

Picking the numbers 02-05-06-17-24-28 “by chance,” the 31-year-old father of three said he would first put his P11.7 million winnings in the bank.—Miko Morelos
