1 dead, 9 hurt as pickup truck rams electric post in Quezon
LUCENA CITY – One passenger died and nine others were injured when the pickup truck they were riding crashed into an electric pole in Lopez town in Quezon province Saturday night, police report said Sunday.
Lopez police said a Toyota Hilux pickup being driven by Rolando Magnaye was negotiating a provincial road when it accidentally hit an electric post in Barangay (village) San Francisco B around 9:10 p.m.
The vehicle subsequently crashed into a house owned by Fresco Palo Andal.
One of the passengers, Edwin Bunagua, resident of Catanuan town, died on the spot from his injuries.
The injured Magnaye, Andal and seven others were taken to Magsaysay Memorial District Hospital and Holy Rosary Hospital in Lopez town. Two other passengers were left unharmed.
Police are conducting further investigation.
