PAL: Passengers with flights to parts of China may request for refund, rebooking

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced on Saturday that passengers with tickets for direct flights to areas in China, Hong Kong and Macau are allowed to request for rebooking, rerouting or refund “with waiver of penalties.”

In a statement, the management of the flag carrier said this is only allowed for passengers holding tickets on or before Jan. 24 for trips between Jan. 24 to Feb. 29.

“Please be advised that effective immediately, passengers of Philippine Airlines with confirmed tickets to and from Xiamen, Jinjiang, Canton, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau issued on or before 24 January 2020 for travel between 24 January until 29 February 2020 may request for rebooking, rerouting or refund with waiver of penalties,” read the statement.

PAL said they are implementing this move “to give passengers with flights to and from China the flexibility to make adjustments in travel plans.”

Here are the following guidelines valid only for request on or before Feb. 29 this year:

1. Rebooking and Rerouting are allowed for travel until June 30, 2020 with penalties waived (note: fare difference and applicable taxes shall apply.)

2. Refunding the cost of tickets is allowed with penalties waived

Passengers who purchased tickets through travel agencies should contact their respective travel agents for rebooking, rerouting and refunding tickets.
