CHR to Congress: pass bill raising age of sexual consent
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Thursday urged Congress to swiftly pass a bill that raises the age of sexual consent in the country from 12 to at least 16 years old, based on House Bill No. 4160 filed by Tingog Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Majority Floor Leader Rep. Martin Romualdez. “Protection of young people from all forms of abuse and exploitation is among the important obligations of the State,” said CHR spokesperson Jacqueline Ann de Guia. —Patricia Denise M.
