Hit-and-run in Isabela: Man dead, son critical as motorcycle slammed by truck

REINA MERCEDES, Isabela–A 35-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a trailer truck on the national highway here on Wednesday (Jan. 22), police said.

Investigators identified the fatality as Jeffrey Belgado, 35, of Dangan village here. His 9-year-old son, who was riding at the back, is in critical condition.

Police said the trailer truck, which was was heading to Cauayan City, sped away and is being chased by authorities.

The boy was taken to Isabela United Doctors Medical Center for treatment.

Injured were truck driver Lemar Viernes and helpers Orlando Gamiao, Earl John Littaua, Gilmar Gamiao and Leomar Achoara.

Police said the truck, which was loaded with lumber, had mechanical trouble.
