BI now monitoring kin of first Hong Kong novel coronavirus case — Guevarra

MANILA, Philippines–The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has tracked down the Chinese family that came from Hong Kong whose relative had tested positive for the deadly novel coronavirus strain, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Thursday.

“The BI is monitoring their movements and may refer them to the Board of Quarantine,” Guevarra told reporters.

The BI, meanwhile said it has already extracted from their database the address of the family.

“We will be forwarding this information to the Bureau of Quarantine for their information and their monitoring,” BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.

“The Commissioner has ordered verification of our records in order to provide information and assist the Department of Health in locating said Chinese nationals,” she added.

The family arrived in the country from Hong Kong on Wednesday.
