Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto on Tuesday fulfilled a campaign promise by regularizing 53 casual employees who have worked for at least two decades at City Hall.
Sotto announced the good news in a Facebook post even as he railed against his predecessor Robert Eusebio’s alleged use of contractual positions in the city as a “tool to intimidate and scare thousands.”
“Ordinary government workers should be shielded from politics,” Sotto wrote on FB.
A photo of Sotto with an employee, Roberto Rodrigo, accompanied the post, with the mayor saying Rodrigo finally had a permanent position after being a casual employee for 43 years. All 53 of the regularized workers had been casual employees for over two decades. INQ
