BAGUIO CITY –– The temperature in this summer capital returned to 11.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, matching the coldest morning recorded at the start of this year.
According to the synoptic station of Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) here, the temperature was recorded at 5 a.m.
It was on Jan. 4 when the mercury first dropped to 11.4 degrees Celsius.
The morning temperature then rose between 12 to 14 degrees Celsius before plunging below 12 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning.
Pagasa said the cold spell is brought by the northeast monsoon locally known as hanging “amihan” that arrived in October.
