Manila roads to be closed on Jan. 24 for Chinese New Year

MANILA, Philippines — Several roads in Manila City will be closed on Friday, Jan. 24, to make way for the celebration of Chinese New Year.

In an advisory, the Manila Police District (MPD) said the following roads will be closed starting 5 p.m. for the concert, which will be held at Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz:

-Quintin Paredes from Dasmariñas to Plaza Ruiz

-Reina Regente from Soler to Plaza Ruiz

-Juan Luna from Reina Regente to San Fernando

-San Fernando from Elcano to Plaza Ruiz

-Northbound lane of Jones Bridge from P. Burgos to Escolta

Meanwhile, both lanes of Jones Bridge from Escolta to Magallanes Drive will be closed at 10:30 p.m. for the fireworks display.

Below are the alternative routes that vehicles could use during the road closures:

-Vehicles coming to Juan Luna intending to use the southbound lane of Jones Bridge shall go straight to Muelle dela Industria to McArthur Bridge

-All vehicles using Soler St. going to Plaza Ruiz shall turn right to Reina Regente, turn right or left to CM Recto to point of destination

-Vehicles using Dasmariñas shall turn left to Prenza, turn right to Muelle dela Industria to point of destination

-Vehicles plying San Fernando going to Plaza Ruiz shall turn right to Elcano, left to Urbiztondo, right to Barraca, left to Dasmariñas, right to Juan Luna, then turn left to Muelle dela Industria to point of destination

-All vehicles coming from P. Burgos going to Binondo area intending to use the northbound lane of Jones Bridge shall use McArthur Bridge to point of destination.

MPD said that the closing and opening of roads will be based on “actual traffic condition and subject to changes.”
