It only takes one scandal to ruin the country’s premier military school.
President Duterte issued this warning on Tuesday as he appealed to the alumni of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) to “police” their ranks against any misconduct or scandal that could tarnish its reputation.
Speaking at the PMA Alumni Association’s annual general membership meeting, Mr. Duterte said PMA alumni should still put their best foot forward, even after retiring from the military.
“Make use of your moral ascendancy, police your own ranks. You owe it to the academy that nourished you,” he said.
In the same event, the Chief Executive conferred Outstanding Achievement Awards to notable PMA alumni, or “Cavaliers,” including Noe Wong, ambassador to South Korea; former military chief Noel Clement; Sen. Ronald dela Rosa; present military chief Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. ; present police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa; Army chief Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay; Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Allen Paredes, and Ernesto de Leon, former ambassador to Australia. INQ
