3 suspected marijuana pushers nabbed in Quezon busts

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Police have arrested three suspected peddlers of dried marijuana leaves in two separate buy-bust operations in Catanauan and Sariaya towns in Quezon province on Monday and Tuesday.

Anti-illegal drugs operatives nabbed Renson Deodores, 18, and Jan Armer Leyola, 20, after the two sold the marijuana leaves to an undercover police officer in Barangay Gibanga, Sariaya at around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Recovered from the suspects were two plastic sachets of dried marijuana leaves weighing 2.87 grams.

Meanwhile, in Catanauan, the local police drug enforcement unit nabbed a 15-year-old boy after he sold a plastic sachet of marijuana to an undercover police officer in Barangay 08 at around 10:15 p.m. Monday.

Seized from the boy were three grams of marijuana, police said.

Police also confiscated a motorcycle with no license plates, which was allegedly being used by the boy in his drug pushing activities.

According to a police intelligence report, most users of shabu (crystal meth) have shifted to marijuana due to scarcity of meth supplies in the province as most shabu peddlers have already been arrested or have already surrendered to the authorities.
