MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Electric Co. on Monday said it has fully restored power services in areas within its franchise that were affected by ashfall from Taal Volcano.
“In the past week, portions of Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas experienced interruptions because of Taal’s ashfall coming into contact with Meralco’s facilities, thus affecting the various circuits in these areas,” Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said in a bulletin.
Zaldarriaga said there were around 180,000 Meralco customers in these areas where distribution lines tripped due to the ashfall.
In Laguna, these areas include Santa Rosa, Cabuyao, Calamba, San Pedro, and Biñan.
In Cavite, the affected areas covered Silang, Amadeo, Alfonso, Mendez-Nuñez, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Dasmariñas, Indang, Maragondon, Naic, and Trece Martirez.
Also affected were the entire Tagaytay City and parts of Talisay in Batangas.—Ronnel W. Domingo
