FDA: Avoid unregistered ‘healing oils’
MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against the purchase and use of unregistered “healing oils.”
According to the FDA, El Shaddai Menthol Healing Oil and El Shaddai Sampaguita Olive Oil have not gone through the required registration and testing process and have not been issued certificates of product registration.
“Thus, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety. The consumption of such violative products may pose potential danger or injury if administered,” it said in an advisory.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9711 otherwise known as the “Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009,” the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without proper authorization from the FDA is prohibited.
It advised the public against buying the products and also warned “all concerned establishments and/or entities” against their distribution.
“Otherwise, regulatory actions and sanctions shall be strictly pursued,” the FDA said as it urged local government units and law enforcement agencies to ensure that these would not be sold or be made available in their respective areas.
