A LOCAL football tournament will finally get national television coverage as AKTV agreed with organizers of the 2nd Sinulog Football Cup to air the games that start this weekend in the two venues in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue.
Tournament manager Francis Ramirez said that the national television network has agreed to become their TV partner and will cover all matches of the football festival, which will be held at the University of San Carlos Technological Center and San Roque football field.
Ramirez said the partnership might be the start for other football matches to get national television coverage.
According to Ramirez, AKTV will start its initial local football tournament coverages here in Cebu.
Ramirez is set to have a final meeting with AKTV this week to discuss the placement of their equipment, which will include a LED TV monitor that will broadcast the games live as it happens in two venues.
AKTV is a sister station of the TV5, which also broadcast live matches of the United Football League (UFL).
The television network will also be bringing some players or teams of the UFL for the event.
Ramirez, however, could not name who these players or teams will be as it would depend on their availability.
They will be the ones to award the winners at the Cebu City Sports Center on Sunday.
Some 193 teams will be seeing action in this 7-a-side festival-type tournament./CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
