MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday maintained that the Liberal Party (LP) has nothing to do with the filing of charges against President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC) after a lawyer withdrew his complaint saying that it was just part of “political propaganda” by the opposition.

Attorney Jude Sabio, who filed a communication (complaint) before ICC accusing Duterte of crimes against humanity over his war on drugs, said he refuses to be a tool of Duterte’s critics led by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and detained Senator Leila De Lima.

In an interview with reporters at an event in Caloocan City, Robredo said LP having a hand in the ICC complaint was a “complete lie.”

Robredo also challenged Sabio to specifically name the LP personalities who filed the complaint.

“Kasi kapag hindi niya papangalanan, nadadamay iyong mga wala namang kaalam-alam. So iyong sa akin lang— Kaya noong nakita ko iyong headline na ang bine-blame LP, alam ko na may consideration iyong pag-withdraw, kasi hindi totoong kasali iyong LP, eh.” Robredo said.

(Because if he won’t name the personalities, even the innocent is being dragged into this. So for me, when I saw the headline blaming LP, I knew there was a consideration in the withdrawal of the complaint, because it is not true that LP is involved.)

The Vice President also hit Larry Gadon, the lawyer who accompanied Sabio to submit the withdrawal, over the sedition case she and 35 others are currently facing for the “Ang Tototoong Narcolist” videos.

Gadon also happens to be the lawyer of Peter Joemel Advincula, alias “Bikoy”, allegedly the hooded man in the controversial videos.

“Ngayon— Lalo pa kasi si Atty. Gadon iyong kasama. Si Atty. Gadon din iyong kasama noong nag-file ng sedition case sa akin, na ano talaga, 100 percent kasinungalingan (Now, Gadon is part of it. Atty. Gadon was also part of the sedition case filed against me that are 100 percent lies),” Robredo said.

“So noong nakita ko pa lang iyong mukha niya sa picture, alam ko na na pareho na naman ito noong sedition [case], (So when I saw him in the photo, I know that this is also the same as the sedition case,” she added.
