2 women dead in crash with truck in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Two women died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a trailer truck in Tondo, Manila early Thursday morning.

Police identified the fatalities as Ana Dela Cruz, 27, and Ilora Joyce Suñer, 25.

Investigation showed Dela Cruz was driving a Yamaha Mio with Suñer as a back-rider along Quiricada Street, while the Isuzu Giga driven by Roilan Ruado was traversing the northbound lane of Jose Abad Avenue before the accident.

Upon reaching the intersection of the roads at about 1:45 a.m., the front portion of the motorcycle crashed into the rear portion of the truck, leaving the victims died on the spot.

Police said the truck driver was brought into their custody and may face a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
