Fire hits canteen inside GMA Network compound in QC

MANILA, Philippines — Fire broke out at the GMA Network compound in Quezon City on Tuesday, the Quezon City Fire Department said.

In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, the fire department said the blaze started at the canteen at the ground floor of the compound.

The fire started at 11:25 a.m. and reached the first alarm. It was later declared fire out at 11:45 a.m.

Fire investigators are on their way to the area to investigate the cause of the blaze, the Quezon City Fire Department added.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), meanwhile, advised motorists to expect moderate flow of traffic along roads around the compound.

In a statement, GMA said that its employees were immediately evacuated to ensure their safety and were sent back to continue normal operations as the fire was put out.
