MANILA, Philippines — The air-conditioning system of the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT2) will be shut off on Monday to prevent damage to trains, according to the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).

In a tweet, the LRTA said windows will also be closed to protect passengers against exposure to sulfur and ash.

Several areas in Metro Manila experienced ash fall from Taal Volcano after it spewed ash and small rocks on Sunday. Alert level 4, which means hazardous explosive eruption is possible within hours or days, remains hoisted.
