Taal Volcano ashfall reaches Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Ashfall brought about by the phreatic eruption of the Taal Volcano Sunday afternoon has now reached parts of Metro Manila.

In a video posted by Paulo Felicio Famini on Facebook, ash can be seen to have accumulated on the surface of a white car in Barangay Palanan in Makati City.

The video, the uploader told INQUIRER.net, was taken at around 7:20 p.m.

Parked cars in Marikina and Pasig City also collected ash.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has raised Alert Level 4 over Taal Volcano.

Alert Level 4 means that “hazardous explosive eruption is possible within hours to days.”

Most of the cities in Metro Manila have already suspended classes on Monday following Taal Volcano’s phreatic eruption.
