MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5 earthquake jolted Surigao del Sur Sunday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In a bulletin issued by Phivolcs, the temblor hit 18 kilometers east of Cortes, Surigao del Sur at 6:53 p.m.
The quake was of tectonic origin and had a depth of 28 kilometers.
Intensity II was felt in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur, while Instrumental Intensity II was recorded in Surigao City.
No damage was reported, but Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks.
