P85.5M drugs, 50 pushers killed in Quezon last year

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines — An estimated P85.5 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in Quezon province alone, announced the provincial police.

At least 50 suspected drug pushers and users were also killed among the 1,308 arrested in the war against illegal drugs in 2019.

The numerous deaths were from 1,091 police operations, mostly buy-busts, conducted last year.

Lt. Col. Alexis Oliver Nava, Quezon police deputy director, said on Thursday they had yet to finish the revalidated list of slain suspected drug personalities in the province since 2016 when President Rodrigo Duterte launched the bloody drug war.
