Court denies bid for dismissal of graft case

/ 05:18 AM January 09, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan Sixth Division has denied the motion to file a demurrer of two former officials of the Department of Agriculture (DA), saying that if unrebutted, the evidence against former DA Regional Field Unit 1 Chief Administrative Officer Francisco Casil and Administrative Officer V Lourdes Gonzales would likely lead to a guilty verdict.

The graft charges are in connection with the 2004 fertilizer fund scam.

A granted demurrer is tantamount to a dismissal of the case.
