MANILA, Philippines — The disaster and emergency response units of the Metro Manila Disaster, Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) were placed on “blue alert” status to ensure the safety of devotees who will be joining the Traslacion or procession of the Black Nazarene image on January 9.

In a statement released Tuesday, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Danilo Lim, who is also the concurrent chair of the MMDRRMC, ordered the activation of the blue alert status from Monday, Jan. 6, to Friday, Jan. 10.
