MANILA, Philippines – The volume of vehicles at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) exit points have been rising as of Sunday afternoon, a day before most offices and schools resume operations.
According to posts from NLEx’s official social media sites, light to moderate traffic flow still persists on both lanes of the highway, but vehicle buildup on the Balintawak southbound lane has reached the Libis Baesa area.
NLEx has advised motorists going to Quezon City and other southern areas to use the Mindanao Avenue exit, which can be accessed through the Smart Connect Interchange.
“As of 2:50 PM, slow moving at Balintawak SB with tail end at Libis Baesa. You may take Mindanao exit as an alternative route. Drive Safely!” NLEx’s management said.

Long queues have also started at the Bocaue Toll Plaza, the toll gates for southbound vehicles.

On the other hand, motorists can still enjoy light to moderate traffic at the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), South Luzon Expressway (SLEx), STAR Tollway, and the Cavite Expressway.

Photos from the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) also showed smooth vehicle flow at the SLEx’s Calamba Toll Plaza, Ayala Toll Plaza, and the Alabang Viaduct.

Vehicle and passenger influx is expected to rise on Monday as people who spent their holiday vacations in provinces would return to their work and school.
