LOOK: Four generations of British royal family pose for portrait to welcome new decade

The British royal family is opening the next decade with a historic portrait released today, Jan. 4.

The portrait shows Queen Elizabeth II and the next three in line to the throne—Prince Charles, Prince William and 6-year-old Prince George—in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. The photo was taken last Dec. 18.
