BAGUIO CITY, Philippines –Tourists and residents in the summer capital woke up shivering on Saturday (Jan. 4) with the temperature dropping to 11.4 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest day at the start of 2020.
The mercury drop was recorded at 5 a.m. by the weather bureau’s Baguio synoptic station.
The nippy weather is caused by cold wind brought by the northeast monsoon or “amihan” which normally peaks from January to February.
