LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A village councilor was killed and four others were hurt after two motorcycles collided in General Nakar town in Quezon province on Thursday, police said Friday.
A report from the General Nakar police said victim Eliseo Astejada, 50 and Barangay (village) Poblacion kagawad (councilor), was aboard his motorcycle when he was hit by an oncoming motorcycle in Barangay Anoling around 6:30 p.m.
Astejada and the other motorcycle driver, Randy Fugoso sustained injuries and were both taken to the Claro M. Recto Hospital in nearby Infanta town but the village councilor died along the way. Fugoso was confined at the said hospital.
The back riders of Fugoso’s bike, identified as Judith Flores, 21; Joven Flores, 3; and Micaela Dunggon, 8, also sustained injuries and were taken to General Nakar municipal health center for treatment.
Judith reportedly confessed to the police that she and Fugoso were both drunk when the accident happened.
She told police that she and Fugos were having a drink when they decided to buy food in Anoling and brought the two children with them. The accident happened on their way home.
Police are conducting further investigation.
