4 Chinese nationals hurt in gas explosion at Makati resto

MANILA, Philippines — Four people, including a Chinese national, were injured following a reported gas explosion at a Makati restaurant on Thursday evening.

A report from the Makati police station identified the victim as  Cao Yue Qzang, 45; Zhang Liang, 37; Tang Ting, 26; and Yun Long Liu, 27.

Makati police chief Col. Rogelio Simon said Cao is working as a cook at the restaurant while Zhang is a kitchen helper at the establishment.

The Makati police received a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection about a gas explosion along Barangay San Antonio.

A witness told police that the incident happened after the restaurant closed for the evening. Before the explosion happened, the witness added that he was sitting near the establishment when Cao went inside the kitchen to cook for their dinner.

Minutes later, a liquefied petroleum gas tank exploded and the witness was able to evade the blast.

Cao sustained serious injuries and was confined at the Makati Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit while three other victims sustained minor injuries.
