MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa said he is confident the nation’s police force will be able to breeze through challenges it encountered in the past year.
“For the year 2019, the PNP has undergone trying times that threatens its system up to the core,” Gamboa said in his New Year’s message to the public.
“Emerging as a winner from all the setbacks, I am confident that the Team PNP will prevail from all the challenges by maintaining its cohesive spirit,” he added.
In 2019, the nation’s police were hounded with the issue of drug recycling which caused its former PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde to step down from the post.
Despite this issue, Gamboa hoped that the more than 200,00-strong police force will gain more “strength and good discernment.”
For the year 2020, Gamboa also sought for a “stronger, solid and result-driven” PNP, the agency that leads the government’s drug war.
Gamboa also wished that the new year will be filled with a “new story of bravery, good deeds, accomplishments and selfless service.”
