Metro LGUs urges public: Stay strong, surpass trials of life as 2020 begins

MANILA, Philippines — Some local government units in the National Capital Region on Tuesday advised the public to be strong and surpass the upcoming problems of life as the New Year starts.

“Mga kababayan, manatili po sana tayong matatag sa mga darating na pagsubok sa buhay. Kalugdan sana kayo ng Diyos na dinggin ang inyong mga panalangin sa buhay (To our citizens, let us stay strong and learn to face issues in our lives. May God hear all your wishes),” Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said in a statement.

Known for its campaign to achieve “New Manila,” the Manila government also asked the public in improving the city.

In a separate statement, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte wished its citizens a new year filled with “understanding, love and kindness.”

“And as we usher in a new decade, may we continue to follow the path towards nation building. Let us work hand in hand in making Quezon City resilient, progressive and prosperous,” Belmonte said.

Belmonte cited how 2019 ended with the government’s triumph in resolving challenges such as the African swine fever and road clearing operations.

“All these would not have been successful without the support and cooperation of every Quezon City citizen,” she said.
