MANILA, Philippines – A generally fair weather on Monday, Rizal Day (December 30) is expected for most parts of the country, according to the Sunday afternoon forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Pagasa, however, said that parts of Northern Luzon may experience cloudy skies with occasional rain showers and thunderstorms due to the cloud bands brought by the cold front in the area.
“Manipis na mga kaulapan lamang ang nakaka-apekto sa ating bansa at meron tayong binabantayang frontal system na pwedeng magdulot ng maulap na papawirin at kalat-kalat na mga pag-ulan at pagkulog, dito lamang ‘yan sa may Batanes at Babuyan Group of Islands,” weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.

“Pagdating bukas sa pagsasara ng selebrasyon natin ng Rizal Day ay wala naman tayong inaasahan na mga major weather system na pwedeng magdulot ng mga pag-ulan,” he added.
(When it comes tomorrow, as we wrap up the celebration for Rizal Day, we are not expecting major weather system that can bring rain.)
Pagasa said that as the cold front prevails, a large part of Luzon will again experience colder weather starting from the first week of 2020, negating the warm weather brought by the easterlies or hot winds from the Pacific Ocean.
Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Phanfone, known locally as Ursula, has evaporated as it moved even further from the Philippine area of responsibility.
All gale warnings have been removed as of now, which means that fisherfolk and those using small sea vehicles can now set sail again. However, Pagasa still warns that waves, especially in the seaboards of Luzon, can have a moderate to rough condition.
