MPD to close roads, reroute traffic on Rizal Day

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) announced on Saturday road closures and rerouting of traffic to be implemented on Monday (December 30) for the 123rd commemoration of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal.

In a traffic advisory, the MPD said that the north and southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak and TM Kalaw will be closed from 6 a.m. onwards.

Motorists were also advised to take the following alternative routes:

Light vehicles traveling southward coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone shall turn left to P. Burgos, right to Ma. Orosa to point of destination (Katigbak Drive, Independence Road & South Drive will be opened to traffic if necessary).

All trailer trucks or heavy vehicles coming from Delpan Bridge Pier Zone shall turn left to P. Burgos straight to Finance Rd-Ayala Blvd., right to San Marcelino to pint of destination.

Light vehicles traveling northbound of Roxas Boulevard shall turn right TM Kalaw, left Ma. Orosa to point of destination.

All trailer trucks or heavy vehicles traveling northbound of Roxas Boulevard from P. Ocampo shall turn right to Pres. Quirino Avenue to point of destination.

All vehicles coming from three bridges (McArthur, Jones and Quezon Bridges) intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from P. Burgos shall take Round Table, then to Ma. Orosa or use Taft Avenue to point of destination.

The MPD, meanwhile, noted that actual closing and opening of affected roads will be based on actual traffic conditions.
