MANILA, Philippines — At least 10 people have been injured
from shooting incidents as the number of patients brought to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City reached 68 amid the celebrations to welcome the New Year.
At the EAMC trauma center’s latest tally, nine people were injured after they were hit by stray bullets. They were identified as Jeffrey Marinda, 19, from Bagong Silang, Caloocan city, Maide Mae Quiroda, 18, from Tandang Sora, Quezon City (QC), Vincent Lopez, 8, from Krus na Ligas, QC, Rona Pangilinan, 13, from Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, Jeffrey Abas, 18, from Tatalon, QC, Derder Marina, 69, from Barangay Tala, QC, Basel Live Torzar, 5 from Payatas, QC, Genalyn Tumarong, 22 from Caloocan City, and Jay Roldan, 33, from Camarin, Caloocan City.
Bryan Lorilla, 27, from San Rafael, Old Balara, QC, was shot by an unidentified suspect with a .38 caliber pistol.
Lorilla’s unidentified companion said Lorilla was shot for no apparent reason.
No fatalities have been reported by the hospital staff.
