MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Vicente Sotto III said the Senate in the first six months of the 18th Congress was off to “a great start.”
The measures that had become law in the past six months were the postponement of the 2020 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, and the one institutionalizing Malasakit Centers, one-stop shops in government hospitals where patients can ask for medical and financial assistance.
The P4.1-trillion 2020 budget bill has been approved by both chambers and is expected to be signed by President Duterte soon.—Leila B. Salaverria
