Man shot dead in QC, jeepney driver wounded
MANILA, Philippines — A man was shot dead while a jeepney driver was hit by a stray bullet in a shooting incident in Quezon City Friday night, police said Saturday.
Lt. Col. Romulus Gadaoni, Quezon City Police District – Batasan Police station commander, said in his report that a traffic enforcer stationed near the San Simon footbridge along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Holy Spirit heard several gunshots at about 6 p.m. Friday.
The traffic enforcer later saw a bloodied Gabriello Quitero, 54, sprawled on the ground with gunshot wounds and alerted the police.
Police were immediately deployed to the area but failed to arrest the gunman.
Jomar Tusi, who was driving his passenger jeepney, was hit by a stray bullet and rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center, according to Gadaoni.
Recovered from the crime scene were 15 spent shells, a bullet, and three deformed fired bullets from a yet unknown caliber of firearm.
