Mindanao earthquake fatalities climb to 11; 195 others injured
MANILA, Philippines — Fatalities from the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that jolted Mindanao last Sunday have reached 11, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
NDRRMC, in its situation report released Thursday, said that 11 have been confirmed dead, 195 injured, while one remains missing after the incident.
A total of 29,592 families or 21,221 persons were affected in 105 barangays in Davao Region, the report said.
Of the number, 3,076 families or 14,993 persons are taking temporary shelter in 24 evacuations centers.
NDRRMC reported that a total of 290 schools and 31 other structures were damaged in Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN due to the strong tremor.
Meanwhile, 826 aftershocks have been recorded, of which 364 were plotted and 86 were felt, NDRRMC said.
