KIDAPAWAN CITY –– One of the three suspects in the murder of radio broadcaster Eduardo “Ed” Dizon has regained temporary liberty after a local court allowed him to post P500,000 bail.

In his order, Judge Arvin Sadiri Balagot of the Regional Trial Court Branch 17, said accused Sotero Jacolbe Jr. would be freed after his representative, identified as Erlinda Jacolbe, posted the P500,000 bail bond.

Jacolbe, also a radio broadcaster, was linked to the murder of Dizon, Brigada News FM blocktimer, last July 10.

Dizon was driving home after an evening program when unidentified gunmen aboard a motorbike sprayed bullets on him.

In October, Jacolbe, who repeatedly denied involvement in the Dizon murder, voluntarily surrendered to Kidapawan City police after word of his impending arrest leaked out.

Back then, he said that voluntarily turning himself over to authorities indicates “I am not guilty…”

Also accused in the Dizon murder were Dante Tabosares, also known as Bong Encarnacion, a staunch supporter of the outlawed Kapa investment scheme, and Junel Andakit Poten.

Tabosares, who was a blocktimer of another radio station in Kidapawan City, and Poten remain at large.

They, too, denied involvement in the Dizon murder.
