MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Tuesday recorded 700 aftershocks after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Davao del Sur.
Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum Jr. told INQUIRER.net in a text message that as of 4 p.m., 630 out of 700 were minor aftershocks after the massive earthquake that hit Mindanao on Sunday.
“Out of the 700, 70 were reported felt, hence many aftershocks are minor,” Solidum said.
Of the 700, the highest magnitude recorded was at 5.2 which is considered moderate, Solidum noted.
The Phivolcs director also said they expect “more aftershocks to occur in the next several days to weeks.”
