KIDAPAWAN CITY –– Employees at the City Hall here went out of their respective offices following two separate quakes on Tuesday afternoon (December 17).
The first tremor was recorded at 2 p.m. at magnitude 3.6 with epicenter in Padada, Davao del Sur, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The second was recorded seven minutes later, at magnitude 4.6, traced to Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
The two separate quakes were felt here at intensity 2 and 3 respectively.
Chayla Baldos, an administrative assistant of the City Information Office, said she first felt the building swaying, after which there was some kind of dribbling.
“The quakes lasted for at least 5 to 8 seconds, enough to make us feel dizzy afterward, ” Baldos said.
Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista immediately ordered all employees to vacate their offices and stay at the incident command post, which is a little distant from City Hall.
The quakes led to the temporary suspension of the distributions of bonuses for casual and job order employees.
