MANILA, Philippines — The ad interim appointment of Agriculture Secretary William Dar has been recommended for confirmation by a panel of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA).
CA’s Committee on Agriculture approved the recommendation on Dar’s ad interim appointment in a hearing on Tuesday.
The panel’s recommendation would be transmitted for approval at the plenary.
President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Dar as acting secretary of the Department of Agriculture last August.
Dar was former director-general of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and acting Agriculture secretary of former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada.
