SAN PEDRO CITY –– At least two people died while dozens were injured after a wayward truck plowed through morning traffic in Mendez, Cavite on Tuesday.
The police identified the fatalities as Rolando Ligsa and Roger Santos, drivers or passengers of some of the vehicles hit by the truck.
Twenty other people were brought to hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Police Corporal Christian Espiritu, case investigator, said in a phone interview that the accident happened around 7 a.m. along the Mendez-Indang road in Barangay Poblacion 2.
A delivery truck driven by Romeo Sevilla lost its control on the downhill road and rammed 12 other vehicles, among them tricycles and cars.
The police held Sevilla, who was being treated for his injuries, as the investigation continued.
