MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police warned on Monday all heads of police units to keep their officer’s guns silent during the holiday revelry or face the axe.

The PNP deputy chief for operations, Lt. Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, said that police commanders should deter and prevent their officers from celebratory gunfire.

“On incidents involving injuries or death resulting from indiscriminate firing of guns, the one-strike policy will strictly apply to all police commanders and chiefs of police who will fail to take appropriate action within 24 hours,” he said.
