Motorcycle assassins kill village chair, peacekeeper in Ecija town

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija–A village chair and a peacekeeper were killed in a gun attack here on Sunday yet, according to police.

Lt. Col. Alexie Demasito, police chief of Talavera, said Christopher Antonio, chief of Dimasalang Sur village, and Dominador dela Cruz, a member of Bantay Bayan, were on their way home aboard an improvised tricycle, known locally as kolong-kolong, when motorcycle-riding men shot them from behind.

The gunmen fled while their victims were declared dead on arrival at a hospital, according to police. Police are now investigating the killing.
