MANILA, Philippines – The plenary vote at the House of Representatives on the impeachment complaint against Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez should push through Monday, Oriental Mindoro Congressman Reynaldo Umali told Radyo Inquirer.
After being postponed last week due to debates on the reproductive health bill and the proposal to postpone the elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Umali stated that it was important to hold the vote this Monday to prevent further delays.
“Yan and pakiusap ng partido [That was suggested by the party],” Umali said during the interview, adding that the impeachment was likely to take place amidst rumors that the number of those voting for it had decreased.
