FDA warns public vs buying 25 local products

MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned the public against purchasing and consuming 25 brands of pasalubong, mostly found in Bicol, which do not have the necessary permits.

“[T]he agency cannot assure their quality and safety. The consumption of such violative products may pose health risks to consumers,” the FDA said.

These products include Tintoy’s Original Homemade Bicolano Recipes Tinapa Laing; Regalado Bicol Delicacy Santol Express and Baquiron de Pili; and Mayon Treats’ Special Salted Galletas, Premium Banana Krunch, Special Mamon Tostado, Special Butter Cookies and Premium Pili for the Gods.

Also flagged were Berton’s Mazapan de Pili Bar, Delpagran Original Chili Garlic Oil, DWS Brown Rice Brew, Homemade Products Ube, RJ Delicacies Special Pili Tart, L&J Pastillas Stick Assorted and De Guzman Pilinut Candies Sugar Coated. —Jovic Yee
