Black Eyed Peas’ apl.de.ap joins relief efforts
AFTER their horrible experience from tropical storm Sendong, the unexpected came as Filipino-American hip-hop artist and Smart brand ambassador apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas staged a miniconcert for survivors staying at the West City Central School in barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.
Apl.de.ap, who is in the country for his annual Christmas visit, participated in the relief efforts, especially in cheering up survivors.
He energized the crowd with songs like “Bebot,” “The Apl Song” and “We can be anything,” which he composed for the “Bayanihang Pampaaralan” campaign to promote education and build 10,000 classrooms for poor Filipino children in 10 months.
He ended his performance with the hit song “Where is the love?” saying, “that’s what we need right now!”
The singer later greeted student volunteers from Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan.
His trip to Cagayan was through the efforts of Philippine Business for Social Progress, in coordination with Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, TV5, One Meralco Foundation, PLDT-Smart Foundation, PLDT and Smart Communications Inc.
