MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte met Friday with Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founder Nur Misuari.
Misuari, together with members of the Peace Coordinating Committee, “had a fruitful discussion” with Duterte and the members of the government peace panel.
“President Duterte reiterated that he wants to make some headway towards peace at least before his term ends, adding that concerned government agencies are working hand in hand to achieve the desired results,” Malacañang said in a statement.
“The President expressed gratitude to MNLF Chair Nur Misuari for his unwavering support for the government, and assured him of the government’s commitment to achieve peace and development in Mindanao,” it added.
Duterte and Misuari met in November this year and agreed to organize the government and MNLF panels that would serve as the foundation of the peace coordinating committee.
